Beautified Taboo 2010 - The Fashion Edition

08:50
2010 saw the third and special edition of [Beau·ti·fied Ta·boo]. The exhibit with the sub-theme "The Fashion Edition" featured suggestive photography, a "tableau vivant"- inspired human installation with fashion models & actors, an interactive performance, live painting and fashion installations. This eclectic collection of controversial art works encompassed taboo topics such as blasphemy, sexism, prostitution, cultism and cannibalism, depicted in a fashion-related manner such as fashion photography or garments. The theme combination of the complex and veiled matter taboo and the lightweight, overt everyday fashion presents an additional challenge.

This channel is dedicated to those who believe that “Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional” (Chili Davis) I hit 50 with a bang! I looked in the mirror and I did not like what I saw but, let’s face it, did it really matter? According to the media I was on the shelf gathering dust, ageing disgracefully, losing my marbles and quickly approaching the free bus pass entitlement (there are some benefits to being “old”!). But then I saw a glimmer of hope. Very little but nevertheless, some middle-aged ladies are being given “airtime”! PRIMARK HAUL/TRY ON/SWIMWEAR/SUMMER 2019/DOING IT 4 THE GIRLS BY 57 MUMMA GRIMES Body confidence among the middle-aged woman is rising. Entering the fifth decade of your life is by no means a warning bell to cover yourself from top to bottom, hide your legs and cleavage. Never, ever let anyone else tell you what you can and cannot wear at a certain age. If you feel amazing, if you feel confident and you look in the mirror and you're happy with what you see, that's all you need. Please check out my Primark Swimwear haul. I am not going to pretend I was intending to cover up but when I read a recent survey by an online retailer who revealed that one in three women over 50 will be wearing a bikini on their holiday this year, compared to one in five last year and I decided to follow the follow the trend. Blue and green, never to be seen. One friend suggested me to do such a combination inspired by this fashion taboo, I found it tempting. Even talking about it - especially using dating to find a partner - can be considered taboo. That's why we decided to talk about it in the latest episode of our series Young, British and Muslim. We looked at the pressures and expectations facing a diverse range of British Muslims and asked whether matchmaking, social media and online dating has made it easier to find someone. As divorce rates are rising across the UK - including British Muslims - we examined the very different set of issues and problems divorce has within the community. With one Muslim women's helpline reporting that divorce is one of the top three issues they take calls on, we ask why does such a taboo remain. This week's guests in the studio with Rageh Omaar are: • Dr Farah Kausar, a GP who is also a volunteer matchmaker. Her article warning of a 'genuine crisis' for single women because of Asian and Arab men's preferences for partners was widely shared online. • Asha Hussein, whose YouTube channel Asha Everyday discusses what it's like to date as a young, British woman. • Asad Dhunna, a trustee of Imaan, a LGBTQ Muslim charity, who is also involved with Pride in London. He writes about his experiences about as an openly gay British man. We also hear from: • Adeem Younis – award-winning entrepreneur who founded singlemuslim.com as a teenager in Wakefield and turned it into the UK's biggest Muslim dating site. • Shaista Gohir, chair of Muslim Women's Network UK, which runs a confidential helpline. Divorce is one of the issues the organisation campaigns on. The Cannibal Generals of Liberia

19:14
Full length now on YouTube: http://bit.ly/Liberia-Full-Length Cannibalism, murder and rape are just a part of everyday life in certain regions of Liberia. Despite the United Nation's eventual intervention, most of this country's young people continue to live in abject poverty, surrounded by filth, drug addiction, and teenage prostitution. In 2009, we went to Liberia to rummage through the messy remains of a country ravaged by 14 years of civil war. UPDATE: Charles G. Taylor, former President of Liberia and warlord, has been convicted by an international tribunal of war crimes and crimes against humanity, including rape, murder, and the use of child soldiers. He is the first head of state to be found guilty by an international court since the Nuremberg trials. I Went Sex Toy Shopping in India | Sex Rated

14:59
Sex is largely a taboo subject in India, where vibrators, dildos, and other sex toys aren’t just rarely discussed, they’re tightly regulated. Still, the devices have been quietly sold in the country for years, and a growing number of Indians are using them, giving rise to a wave of designers, companies, and vendors who are trying to fill that demand—and, at the same time, encourage sex-positivity in a culture that’s long been resistant to it. On this episode of ‘VICE INTL,’ VICE India's Rytasha Rathore dives into the country’s burgeoning sex toy market, visiting a street vendor who sells them, sitting in on an online sex toy company’s focus group, and meeting with experts who tell her what the future of sex toys in India might look like. Highlights from first day of Fashion Week in Karachi with a focus on fusion

05:24
FASHION WEEK IN PAKISTAN ALL ABOUT FUSION Celebrities and socialites turned up en masse as the Fashion Pakistan Week Autumn/Winter 2014 kicked off with much fanfare on Tuesday (25 NOV. 2014) Part of a three-day long event, the first day saw seven established and upcoming designers showcase their fall and winter collections. Designer Amna Farooq Hashwani wowed the audience with her vibrant collection that brought together the best of both the East and the West. "The inspiration behind the collection was baroque. So it was a winter collection which included capes, jackets and tailcoats. And of course using our local craftsmanship which always gives a richer look, which is what sets it apart from the West. So it's a fusion line but it's a mix of the East and West so we have our used our local craftsmanship with Western designs." Upcoming young designer, Zaheer Abbas, once again proved that he continues to mature. His latest collection offered a unique take on a cultural taboo. His 'Neo Nude' collection was intricate, detailed and rooted in a limited color palette. "The inspiration behind the collection was a taboo because fashion or being fashionable is still considered 'vulgar' (fahashi) in Pakistan. So my inspiration came from this taboo," young Zaheer revealed. The designs hinted at bare skin through layers of fabric. The Sana Safinaz collection, created by Athar Ali Hafeez, showed a great range of styles and vibrancy. The audience gasped as the models walked the runway. Others who featured on the first day included Ishtiaq Afzal Khan, Aamna Aqeel, and design houses Gul Ahmed Textiles and Levi's. For Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, himself a designer, but responsible for the event's choreography, the clothes on display on the first day validated his claim that Pakistani fashion can go to toe to toe with fashion from any other country. "There are lots of new countries out there that are also making headway in fashion. They don't necessarily have it; we have it. And what we have is a certain sense of fusion, a sense of sensibility because of also where we are placed in the world as well. The Middle East is also is booming and we want a slice of that pie. But what we bring to that slice of pie is heritage that perhaps they don't have. I think this is just the tip of the iceberg. I say give us another five years and if the world isn't knocking at our doors I'm going to have to say there's something wrong," Hassan remarked. Aamna Haider Issani, the Fashion Editor at one of the leading newspapers said the event has matured with time. "It had a very strong opening with Sana Safinaz, spectacular opening. There was color; there was vibrance; you could associate with the designs. There were a couple of designers who presented good collections today, one of them being Ayesha Farooq Hashwani. I thought she had some very strong elements. And of course there was the finale, Zaheer Abbas. It's good that the designers are sticking to their signatures. What he makes is what he puts out. He doesn't change with every collection. There were maybe some elements that I wasn't too fond of but on the whole it was a cohesive and strong collection." Fourteen more designers are scheduled to showcase their collections over the next two days and expectations are high. Embrace your gray. Over 40 Parisian chic gray hairstyle and makeup tips.

04:07
No longer something to dread and disguise, gray/silver hair is in. With high profile stars like Rihanna and Nicole Richie embracing silver tresses, the taboo has been lifted on embracing naturally gray hair...for women of all ages, whether they became that way naturally or were dyed to get the look. Fortunately, more and more women over 40 are choosing to embrace their age. Just as there are incredible natural ways to deal with wrinkles, there are plenty of tips for letting your hair go gray while still looking your absolute best. A nice haircut, and conditioners are a must to maintain your locks. Also, an adjustment in makeup is a necessary step. A bright pop of strong color on lips paired with a rosy flush on cheeks looks modern and gorgeous against gray hair. Let's not forget eyebrows... Eyebrows frame any face, but that becomes especially important with gray hair, which can make you look washed out pretty easily. Make sure to define them with a little brow powder to keep them looking sharp. First up is Self Evident Truths’ founder iO Tillett Wright. At the age of 6, iO declared himself a boy in order to play soccer, and his journey as a gender revolutionary is honest, hilarious, brave, and absolutely inspiring. From inexplicably awkward sleepovers as an adolescent to boarding-school romance as a teen, the ease with which iO embraces his transgenderism -- “that physical in-between place” -- has made his compassion limitless and given him a brilliant understanding that each person has their unique process of self-discovery. Maybe I should take off the my crocs and pick up the heels, get down from the top shelf and dust-off! And that’s exactly what I did. I entered “middle age” with a bang! ABORTION & MISCARRIAGE OUR TRUE STORY/ALABAMA ABORTION DEBATE/COPING WITH MISCARRIAGE/MAY2019

21:51
Filming this video was one of the hardest things Misha and I have ever done. Abortion is one of the most controversial subjects and miscarriage is a taboo topic. We speak from the heart. We say it as it happened so please do not judge me, us, please listen to my/our story and respect decisions made even if you disagree. Here is how the law in the UK sees it: "Abortion in Britain is legal under the terms of the 1967 Abortion Act. One clause of the Act states that an abortion can be performed up to 24 weeks of pregnancy if continuation constitutes a greater threat to the physical or mental health of the pregnant woman than does termination, and most abortions are performed for this reason" Lets talk. BRIAN ENRICO BODY COUTURE FASHION CATWALK SHOW PART 2

05:13
MEDIA ITALY: "Brian Enrico is the best The Netherlands offers in fashion since a long time." Article: "Underground Fashion Talent Brian Enrico is the best The Netherlands has got to offer in fashion for a long time"." Article: "Underground Fashion Talent - Since a few years, The Netherlands gained a name as trend blacksmith when it comes to underground fashion. The flair of the worldly and open metropolis Amsterdam seems to give young designers wings. One of these ambitious young designers, maybe even the most talented one of this young caste, is Brian Enrico. This self-made designer introduced his first Body Couture in January 2007. Brian Enrico outstrips a lot of his young colleagues. His fashion is not inspired by the current common street style. The muses for his urban fashion are the divas of the past: Jackie Onassis, Greta Garbo, Grace Jones and Audrey Hepburn. 'Black is beautiful' echoes through the whole collection of the Dutchman. Brian Enrico plays with the epochs and mixes fashion styles against all odds. On top of this, his fashion is one thing for sure: very female. The extra-large shoulder pats are clear references to the 1980s. Nevertheless, his line looks very modern, even futuristic." Peter Thalmann, In Sud Tirol magazine, Italy, June 2007. MEDIA USA: "A new designer emerges with a fresh take on iconic fashion. Brian Enrico celebrates strong women through his design perspective. At the Lancôme competition the official start of the Amsterdam International Fashion Week was underway but perhaps the biggest surprise of the night took place at the unofficial program on Friday night with the UFTA (Underground Fashion Talent Amsterdam) show. While most of the fashion shown at this event did not rise above the level of "fun clothing for a night out", the couture shown by autodidact Brian Enrico was a cut above the rest. Enrico's collection is based on various female style icons who continue to fascinate: The simplicity of Grace, Jackie and Audrey; the drama of Marlene, Greta and Morticia. While the collection has the grace and elegance of the iconique movie stars of the past, watching the collections prance by on the backs of divas, you cannot help but be hark-back to the 1980's and the broad shoulders of its working women. Enrico's collection is in no way tried and tired, however. His approach to the bygone eras is a meld of the past, present, and future which is distinctly his own. Enrico does not believe in the taboo surrounding the female body. During personal fittings Enrico models each garment on the individual client to ensure the best accentuation of each woman's body shape. His approach to design proves his admiration for the female form emphasizing the shoulders, breast, waist, and hips. In fact his muses and models are headstrong women of all generations. His dress code: Black to Basic. Welcome on board of his first night flight to Venus. Brian Enrico Body Couture wishes you a fantastic journey! Star Noor in Miasma magazine, USA, 0-issue online, print launch September 2007 MEDIA NETHERLANDS: "The Lancôme competition signalled the official start of the Amsterdam International Fashion Week, but the unofficial programme was launched on Friday night with the UFTA (Underground Fashion Talent Amsterdam) show. Although most of the fashion shown at this event did not rise above the level of "fun clothing for a night out", the couture shown by autodidact Brian Enrico was a cut above the rest. Divas of all ages modelled black dresses and cat suits with extremely broad shoulders. Hysterically, maybe, but nevertheless a clear statement arriving at just the right time; the extreme shapes of the 1980s are once again in demand."
